It was a different world 45 years ago, way back in 1977. Jimmy Carter was elected President, the Atari 2600 and the first Apple II computer debuted, and the MRI scanner became a lifesaving reality. Egypt’s Anwar Sadat made a historic visit to Israel in the pursuit of peace, the Trans-Alaskan Oil pipeline let the black gold flow, the Torrijos-Carter Treaties mandated the transition of the Panama Canal, French was adapted as the official language of Quebec and 25th Jubilee celebrations were held for Queen Elizabeth II. As SNL put it, Generalissimo Francisco Franco was still dead, but the first elections since his passing were held in Spain.
