Two engineers from D&B Engineers and Architects, P.C., a leading Long Island-based engineering firm, were recently recognized with awards from the American Water Works Association New York Section (NYSAWWA) at the annual New York’s Waterevent in Saratoga Springs, New York.

Water Supply Engineer Christopher C. Melillo, M.E. of Glen Cove was awarded the ‘Young Professional of the Year’ award. The award recognizes “the finest young water professionals who demonstrate excellence, creativity and initiative in their profession, provide valuable service by contributing time and energy to the NYSAWWA and the water community, and who serve as role models for young water professionals.” Mr. Melillo is a Manhattan College graduate who joined D&B’s Water Supply Division in 2015 and has a specialty in potable water supply design.

“It is an honor to be nominated for AWWA New York Section’s ‘Young Professional of the Year’ by my peers and to win this award. I share this recognition with our entire team as winning this is a direct representation of the D&B Water Supply Division’s hard work and passion for the industry. This certainly keeps me motivated to improve my knowledge, expertise and find solutions for our clients’ challenges,” said Mr. Melillo.

Senior Water Supply Engineer Joseph H. Baier, P.E. of Wading River received a special recognition from the NYSAWWA for his decades of “Service to the Water Profession.” The award identifies “outstanding individuals, groups or organizations who may be members or non-members of AWWA and have made significant contributions to the water supply profession.”

Mr. Baier commented, “Being the recipient of this award came as a complete surprise to me. Professionally, it has been rewarding to serve as an officer, committee chair and member of several AWWA New York Section committees with peers and colleagues over the years. We all share a commitment to ensuring that our water supply is safe, and I am pleased that my efforts are being recognized by AWWA.”
